I was on the phone with a guy today who was trying to sell me a yellowpage listing. I know the church has talked about having a new listing, but they haven’t quite made up their minds. I asked the guy to email me the information so I could circulate it. He kept trying to sell me this ad. I finally said “look, I’m the person who does the work on stuff like that around here, not the one who makes the decisions. I’ll have to get back to you.”

I suddenly realized how true that is, not just of me but of a lot of church volunteers. A group of people has out a decision over several weeks and then hand a program idea over to a single person and ask her to complete it in, say, three days. There ought to be a better way to run things, I think.
